Center for Excellence in Nursing Research
Faculty of Nursing Chiang Mai University Center for Excellence was started in
2013 with the Center of Developing Research on Sexual and Reproductive Health to
oversee research conducted within the Faculty of Nursing and to also be a
repository of data generated within the Faculty of Nursing and its researchers.
The Faculty of Nursing consists of four main principals; academic,
administration, the Center for Excellence, and community service. There are
nine research centers managed under the Center for Excellence:
Center for Quality Development in Nursing Education
Midwifery Research Center
Center of Community Health System Development
The Center for Occupational Health and Safety for
Workers in the Northern Region
Center for Mental Health and Psychiatric Care
Nursing Policy and Outcome Center
Center for Research and Innovation in Elderly Care
Center for Developing Research on Sexual and
Center of System and Mechanism Development for
Children and Adolescents Care
The Center for Excellence follows three main
objectives in their research and development:
Increase proficiency and competency in research and
teaching in nursing graduate programs commensurate with international nursing
Serve as a hub for quality academic activities and
provision of academic services, both nationally and internationally.
Serve as a center for sharing and exchanging knowledge
and experience, both nationally and internationally, and for developing an
evidence base in all areas of nursing.
foundations of the Center for Excellence are Research, Innovation, and
Community. Based on these foundations, the Center for Excellence added the
Center of System and Mechanism Development for Children and Adolescents Care in
2017 under the direction of Professor Susanha
Yimyam, PhD, RN, whom was appointed the director of the Center for Excellence
in 2017. One of the goals of the
Center for Excellence is to promote middle and high-level research. They are
currently researching the enhancement of health communication on reproductive
health and developing a breast model for teaching breast care.
fifteen million baht is being spent to initiate programs for the care of
elderly at home and classes about healthy food choices. Strides are being taken
to make sure the aging population will have the knowledge to care for
themselves and others while still maintaining their independence.
addition, the Center for Excellence as a whole must publish 20 articles a year
to maintain funding and meet Faculty of Nursing regulations. While all of the
centers under the Center for Excellence work together, they are each
responsible for procuring their own funding. And in order for the centers to be
eligible to receive funding, the faculty and staff of the Faculty of Nursing
must support the Center for Excellence. Because of this, the Faculty of Nursing
and the Center for Excellence work exceedingly close with each other to further
both administration’s goals.
Center for Excellence believes that research leads to innovation. Thanks to the
research done over the past few years, numerous patents and awards have been
procured. Through the research projects there is now a large research network
of other districts from around Thailand and the world. With collaboration
between several research centers, The Center for Excellence is able to better
prepare our nurses for an ever-evolving digital era and our community as well.
